Our Giants, God’s Victory
'Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand… that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”
1 Samuel 17:45-47 ESV
Every giant in the Bible was defeated by someone who simply thought their God was bigger…
you have that same God.
From a human perspective, David standing victorious over Goliath seemed almost nonexistent.
Yet, David did not come out in victory by solely human hands.
David defeated his giant by the power of God, who delivered Goliath into his hand victoriously.
Why do you believe for a second that God will not bring you through the same way against your giants? We all have giants that we face, and they all look different. Not everyone’s giant will be the same.
For some, it is fear, anxiety, depression, harmful thoughts.
For some, it is lust, temptation, anger, hatred.
No one person is the same. Yet, we have the same victorious God, who is in the business of defeating giants.
You do not need to fight your giant on your own. You will never have to go to war solo. You are in the presence of the Lord of hosts, who will bring you through every battle you face.
'For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. '
1 John 5:4
Remain grounded in your faith in God, and allow Him to carry you through.
Lord, we thank you for many of the wonderful blessings that You place in our lives. We thank you for your mercy renewed each day, that through the Blood of the Lamb of Christ we are given new life and forgiveness of sin. We pray for faith that allows us to trust You in every giant that we face, Lord. Help us to rely on You alone for our strength and deliverance, knowing we are not able solely on our own. Be that fortress for us, God.
Amen
